Yesterday the HMS Astute ran aground off Skye.
Bit of a disaster, but thankfully not a “nuclear incident”.
Just an incident involving something nuclear. Perhaps a protest by the MoD at the cuts. Or just a learner driver. It might be the stealthiest submarine ever, but if you leave it sticking out of the sea on some rocks, it will be noticed.
Anyway, the submarine was set free at high tide by tugs. I wondered if they were the same tugs that were being cut this week, and what would have happened if the tugs weren’t there. It turns out they are! Insanity. Suitably Despairing has the details.
